Every breeding program is built on experience. Some dogs become foundation breeding animals, while others leave their mark in a different, equally important way.

Inga von Wuhlen was one of those special dogs.

She joined our family during the years when our admiration for the Kaninchen Wirehaired Dachshund was growing into a genuine passion. Although Tonyawire Kennel had not yet begun its Wirehaired Dachshund breeding program, Inga played an important role in helping us better understand the breed, its temperament, structure, and unique personality.

Inga came from an outstanding pedigree. Her sire, Gudwil’s Terrific Timothy Dalton, was one of the most successful Wirehaired Dachshunds of his generation, earning numerous international titles, including International Champion (C.I.B. & C.I.E.), World Winner, World Union Winner, European Club Winner, multiple national championships, and victories at prestigious international exhibitions. Behind him stood generations of exceptional breeding, including renowned dogs such as Klaurius Richard ot Mariny Kuranovoy, one of the most influential Wirehaired Dachshunds in modern pedigrees.

Through this carefully selected pedigree, Inga inherited the qualities that make the breed so admired: correct proportions, excellent movement, a harsh weather-resistant coat, intelligence, confidence, and the characteristic determination of the Wirehaired Dachshund.

Although Inga never became part of our breeding program, she was a beloved family companion and an important chapter in our journey with the breed. At that time, we had not yet decided to begin breeding Wirehaired Dachshunds, and our focus was dedicated to learning as much as possible about the breed from daily life, training, exhibitions, and pedigree research.

Looking back today, those years proved invaluable. The experience gained with Inga helped shape the philosophy that later guided the development of our Kaninchen Wirehaired Dachshund breeding program.

The knowledge accumulated through dogs like Inga eventually led us to carefully select foundation females such as Mariss Yumoreska and to establish the Wirehaired Dachshund line of Tonyawire Kennel. Every breeding decision we make today is based on the same principles that inspired us from the very beginning: health, temperament, correct breed type, and thoughtful pedigree selection.

Although Inga left no descendants in our kennel, she remains an unforgettable part of our history. She reminds us that not every important dog becomes a breeding dog—some become the teachers who make future generations possible.
