Our Journey with the Kaninchen Wirehaired Dachshund

Our passion for the Kaninchen Wirehaired Dachshund began long before Tonyawire Kennel was established. Like many enthusiasts, our journey started with two beloved family dogs, Chelines Nestea and Inga von Wuhlen, whose intelligence, character, and unmistakable personality made us fall in love with the breed.

As our passion grew, so did our desire to become a responsible Wirehaired Dachshund breeder dedicated to preserving the true breed type. That journey led us to Mariss Yumoreska, imported from the renowned Mariss Kennel. Her exceptional pedigree includes influential dogs such as Mariss Pizhon, and the outstanding Magic Rainbow Jean Reno, and generations of carefully selected European bloodlines that have contributed to the modern Wirehaired Rabbit Dachshund.

Yuska quickly became the foundation female of our breeding program. She represents the qualities we value most: correct anatomy, balanced temperament, sound health, and excellent breed type. Everything we have built within our kennel started with her.

Today, her legacy continues through the first generation born at Tonyawire Kennel. On the following pages you can discover Roua of Tonyawire, Runa of Tonyawire, and Nathalie of Tonyawire—the next chapter in our breeding program and an important step toward producing healthy, well-balanced Kaninchen Dachshund puppies that meet the FCI Breed Standard.

As an FCI Wirehaired Dachshund breeder, our goal is not simply to breed puppies, but to preserve the authentic character, structure, and working heritage of the Kaninchen Wirehaired Dachshund for future generations.
