Every breeder has a beginning. For me, that beginning was Arabella of Mecsek Valley, my first show dog and the one that introduced me to the fascinating world of purebred dogs, dog shows, and responsible breeding.
Arabella, a beautiful Wire Fox Terrier female, quickly became much more than a companion. She opened the door to an entirely new world where breed standards, pedigree analysis, temperament, movement, and correct conformation became part of everyday life.
Through Arabella, I discovered that every successful show dog is the result of generations of careful selection. Studying pedigrees, understanding breed characteristics, and appreciating the importance of preserving correct breed type became a true passion that has remained with me ever since.
Dog shows also taught me that every breed has its own unique qualities, history, and purpose. They are not simply competitions but opportunities to evaluate breeding quality, meet experienced breeders from different countries, and continually improve knowledge about canine genetics and breed development.
Although my journey began with a Wire Fox Terrier, my passion gradually led me toward two breeds that perfectly matched my vision as a breeder: the Scottish Terrier and the Kaninchen Wirehaired Dachshund.
The first Scottish Terrier to join our family was Mandowal Call for Tonyawire (Cleo). She became the foundation female of our Scottish Terrier breeding program and established the bloodlines that continue today through several generations of dogs bred at Tonyawire Kennel.
Shortly afterwards, another remarkable breed entered our lives—the Kaninchen Wirehaired Dachshund. Our first Dachshund, Chelines Nestea, introduced us to the intelligence, determination, and unique character of this wonderful breed. That first experience eventually grew into a dedicated breeding program focused on preserving the correct breed type, excellent temperament, and outstanding European bloodlines.
Looking back, Arabella represents much more than my first show dog. She represents the beginning of a lifelong passion for purebred dogs, responsible breeding, and continuous learning.
Today, the experience gained during those early years continues to influence every breeding decision we make at Tonyawire Kennel. Whether planning a Scottish Terrier litter or selecting bloodlines for our Kaninchen Wirehaired Dachshunds, the same principles remain unchanged: health, temperament, pedigree quality, and respect for the official breed standard.
Everything started with Arabella.
